To date, I’ve lost 20 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but I’m excited. I was a size 1 until I got married—then my weight fluctuated between sizes 1 and 5 until I gave birth to my third child. My goal for losing weight is more about being a size healthy and not some magical number to make me feel good about myself.
I truly want to be healthy so I’m making the lifestyle changes necessary to achieve this goal. This not only includes changing the way I eat but also making sure I exercise at least three days a week, manage my stressors, and getting more sleep.
Sleep is a challenge for me, I must confess. but it’s something I’m working to improve. I’m a night owl as I suffer from chronic insomnia, but I believe I can turn this around. Making behavioral changes are difficult but they are necessary for complete health and wellness.
My immediate goal is making sure I drink enough water. I have no issues with portion control, cutting out sugar (most times), starches and fats. I track my foods and monitor my calories, but when it comes to drinking half my body weight in water—I struggle. I don’t really drink juices or sodas, however; I enjoy a glass of lemonade or sweet tea now and then. I love water but I just don’t drink enough of it.
I am not giving up on becoming a size healthy–I intend to live my best life. I hope you’ll join me in living yours.
